Lead Spacecraft Systems Engineer

A stealth-mode space startup is seeking a Spacecraft Systems Engineer with deep experience in full-lifecycle satellite development to join their growing team.

They are building the first space-to-space power utility
, using high-powered optical systems to recharge satellites in orbit.

• Act as the technical point of contact between our internal teams and external spacecraft vendor(s)
• Drive spacecraft architecture, trade studies, and component selection
• Own system-level requirements, interface control documents, and verification planning
• Lead design reviews, integration planning, and cross-subsystem coordination
• Contribute hands‑on to development, AIT (assembly, integration & test), and early flight readiness milestones

• You’ve delivered full spacecraft- from requirements to launch- and know what it takes to get to orbit
• You’ve worked at the vehicle level, across subsystems (avionics, propulsion, thermal, structures, comms, power)
• You’re confident navigating vendor relationships, timelines, and system integration
• You thrive in early‑stage, fast‑paced teams and take ownership without needing micromanagement
• Bonus: experience with optical payloads, laser comms, or radiation-hardened satellite components

• Hybrid role based in Los Angeles
• Occasional travel to HQ (Albuquerque) and vendor/manufacturer sites as needed
