As a Staff Structural – Transmission Line Engineer you will have the opportunity to:

• Support design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes.
• Support large, extensive 345kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, including trending technologies such as HVDC and 765kV.
• Collect and assimilate data for engineering work. Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
• Develop recommendations for equipment and materials; understand and work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.
• Assist with providing guidance to engineering team members.
• Maintain positive client relations, understanding client interests and drivers through effective communication with the project team.
• Assist with business development activities.
• Function as a technical specialist.
• Apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods with minimal supervision.
• Expand knowledge and skill set in the area of discipline.

• Learn, remain current, and apply independent knowledge and interpretation about departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Black & Veatch policies and procedures relative to assigned tasks.

• Consistently and independently apply knowledge and comply with Black & Veatch quality program relative to assigned tasks.
• May be responsible for ensuring compliance with Black & Veatch quality program.
• Provide guidance and direction to others from the same project and discipline.
• Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.

• Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables.
• Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
• Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
• Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Plan and conduct independent evaluation, selection and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
• Review lower level engineering work or assignments.
• Be responsible for oversight of data collection, assimilation and management for engineering work; lead smaller production teams; and/or serve as the responsible charge for a project.

• Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.

• Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on less complex projects.
• Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on less complex projects.
• May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.

• Recognized as a technical specialist by the division having in‑depth knowledge of an engineering process and/or technical aspects of an industry.
• Design a complete project of moderately complex scope within an assigned practice area(s).

• Typically assist with the performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required.
• May be accountable for administrative responsibilities such as:
• Ensuring policies, procedures and processes are effectively implemented and communicated for the work group.
• Ensuring adherence to corporate and division programs.
• Approving timesheets and expense reports.

• Strong PLS CADD experience and proficiency.
