Job Description & How to Apply Below

Amca is building airplanes for the 21st century, starting by designing new hardware that flies on today’s planes. Aviation was once humanity’s boldest ambition, but the industry hasn’t successfully built a new plane in 40 years. We don’t think it has to be this way.

Overview

You will take new product designs and bring them to life. Your primary function will be to assist Design Engineering with figuring out how to take new product designs and manufacture them at our production facilities to expand Amca’s product catalog.

Responsibilities
  • Own prototyping and first builds of new hardware designs

    • Work with customers to understand end-use applications and challenge requirements as needed

    • Take full ownership of manufacturing and build of new product designs

    • Prototype new components with manufacturability, integration, and performance as core constraints

    • Work with test engineering to assist in any test tooling needed

    • Work closely with design engineers to ensure new designs are manufacturable at production facilities and DFM feedback is implemented

    • Manage tooling drawing revisions, BOM structure, and part configuration in accordance with aerospace standards and internal design controls

    • Continue to provide feedback on Amca designs to ensure they are fully optimized for reliability and cost

  • Support build and manufacturing processes in our internal shop

    • Help with equipment selection

    • Assist with equipment onboarding

    • Become primary point of contact for certain manufacturing processes

  • Support Amca with subsidiary diligence and company development

    • Evaluate product catalogs and help determine where largest opportunities lie for catalog expansion

    • Assist in the evaluation of subsidiary design, manufacturing, and test capabilities

Qualifications
  • Exceptionally curious and fast learner; able to contribute across diverse part categories and manufacturing processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to use engineering first principles to challenge and simplify requirements.

  • Hands‑on and practical—comfortable building, testing, and troubleshooting in real‑world environments.

  • Independent and creative; thrives with ownership and minimal oversight.

  • Experience with mechanical design, applying first‑principles thinking to structural, thermal fluid, and production constraints.

  • Proficient in CAD, PLM/PDM systems, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience in hands calcs and basic FEM.
