Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Test Engineering Manager. This role is based at our Los Angeles, CA location. This is a Full‑Time position working Daylight hours, Monday‑Friday. With 300+ employees, the Los Angeles facility designs and manufactures quality valves, regulators, and other fluid controls used mostly by the Aerospace industry.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $125,000 – $183,000 a year. Salary information above is a general guideline only; actual compensation is based on skills, experience, and market considerations.
What You’ll DoThis position is responsible for overall leadership and supervision of the Engineering Test Lab (ETL) function. Its primary accountability is for technical and process excellence, but the holder is also measured on personnel leadership, organizational development, and timely results. The role is part of the engineering leadership team within the Los Angeles site operating unit and performs and leads activities related to testing of hydro‑mechanical actuation, flow control (valves), and related products (including electronic control units) and systems.
EssentialFunctions
- Ensure a safe test environment, test execution, and proactively address safety issues related to personnel, facilities, equipment, and test setups; develop and share best practices with other Eaton sites.
- Develop improved engineering techniques that add value to our products, including weight reduction, hydraulic circuitry efficiency, and reliability improvements; document technical standards and lessons learned.
- Support bid and proposal efforts as necessary.
- Develop and implement processes and tools for engineering tasks consistent with industry best practices; monitor adherence to defined processes.
- Manage a team of technicians, engineers, and support personnel to deliver high‑quality technical output on time; provide technical advice and guidance; participate in periodic audits such as AS9100 and ACES for Mechanical LRU development.
- Create opportunities for growth and development; perform performance management and coaching.
- Improve resource management, productivity, and first‑pass quality; use Design for Six Sigma and budgeting tools.
- Author and maintain ETL processes and procedures; collaborate with other labs to develop consistent practices.
- Develop staff engineering and technical capability to support site and organizational strategy; maintain training programs.
- Develop and deliver ETL budget, material, and resource planning; coordinate with other site functional leaders to ensure clear communication.
- Support and execute site operating unit engineering initiatives; participate in site engineering leadership team and strategic planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years of engineering experience in an Aerospace product development environment.
- 1+ year of experience in aerospace hydraulic component design, test, and troubleshooting.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship currently and in the future.

- Experience managing teams in a test lab environment.
- Strong preference for experience with hydro‑mechanical actuation and control products.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or MBA.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience with engineering processes/tools.
- Proven track record supporting complex, multi‑year product development programs.
- Lean and Design for Six Sigma experience.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication presentation skills and the ability to work well with customers and development team members.
- Ability to train and develop engineers.
