Following its acquisition by Motorola Solutions, Silvus Technologies is expanding its Strategic Growth organization to shape demand early, influence requirements, and embed Silvus into future U.S. Department of Defense programs.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Silvus is seeking a Senior Product Engineer who will report to the Director of Product Solutions. This role oversees the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring designs are innovative, functional, and meet customer and business needs. Key responsibilities include generating product requirements, designing and developing products, conducting prototype testing, providing product integration and testing support, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and leading technical projects.

The successful candidate will solve complex technical challenges, improve product performance, and drive continuous improvement throughout the product life cycle.

The Senior Product Engineer position is based at Silvus Technologies’ headquarters in West Los Angeles, CA, and is on a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the design, development, and testing of new products, iterating with design engineers (electrical, mechanical, software) and product managers.
• Component selection, schematic capture, and PCB design of electrical systems based on an FPGA SoC with memory, transceivers, peripherals, and power management circuitry.
• Define PCB stack up, materials, and design rules to meet performance requirements and manufacturing feasibility.
• Perform hardware bring-up, test, and root cause analysis using standard lab equipment.
• Assess risks (technical, schedule, resources) across the design team during the design process.
• Coordinate resources and resolve technical challenges across the product development lifecycle, including design for manufacturing, cost analysis, transitioning to pre-production and production (BOMs, drawings, configuration management, test plans, etc.).
• Plan, organize, and conduct product and system integration, testing, and validation, including thermal, mechanical/electrical fit checks, FAAT, and related testing.
• Ensure designs meet MIL-STD environmental, EMI, EEE, and human factors specifications as appropriate by formulating test plans and outsourcing.
• Provide technical direction and mentor junior team members as appropriate.
• Perform other related duties as representative of the role.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
• At least 6 years of experience in mixed-signal circuit design involving audio, SoCs, and Xilinx FPGAs, with demonstrated experience in complex mixed-signal PCB design and HDI routing.
• Experience implementing digital communication peripherals at a hardware level (e.g., USB 3.0, 10
  
  Gb Ethernet, RS232).
• Strong familiarity with test equipment such as DMM, bench power supplies, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and spectrum analyzer.
• Deep knowledge of product design principles, prototyping, and product testing (design verification and acceptance testing).
• Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements and compliance testing.
• Strong ability to analyze data, perform root cause analysis, and make informed decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with various teams and stakeholders.
