Role DescriptionArcadis is seeking a Rail Inspector to join our team supporting major rail and transit projects throughout the Los Angeles area. In this role, you will conduct on-site inspections at various stages of rail construction projects from initial groundwork through final completion to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Role Accountabilities- Interpret plans, specifications, and codes and verify contract work is performed in accordance with them.
- Prepare Non-Conformance Reports when work is not performed to the approved standards. Maintain daily activity logs and reports.
- Monitor contractor-testing activities and determine construction conforms to plans and specifications; issue Non-Conformance Reports for corrective action if needed.
- Assist in maintaining, supporting, and promoting a safe work environment while complying with Union Pacific and BNSF Railway safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate preparation of inspection cost estimates and maintenance records.
- Arrange, coordinate, and oversee technical inspections such as electrical, mechanical, landscaping, soil testing, concrete and asphalt mixes, and reinforcing steel for conformance to specification requirements.
- Coordinate Metro Test laboratory activities and compare verification test results with those from Contractor's laboratory.
- May allocate inspection resources and supervise inspectors.
- Minimum five (5) years of journey-level experience inspecting, constructing, and performing installation, repair, and maintenance of rail track work (ballasted and direct fixation) and related facilities.
- Experience with rail transit agencies.
- IC Certificate of Reinforced Concrete or Masonry, ACI Registered Construction Inspector License, comparable Deputy Inspection License for a county or city agency, NICET certification, or other alternative certification from an acceptable nationally recognized organization is highly desirable.
Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with rail start-up, testing, and commissioning protocols.
- OSHA 30 training certification. Certificates exceeding this requirement will be accepted.
- BNSF Railway Safety Training preferred.

Salary range: $150,000 - $175,000 (actual vary by experience, education, budget, and location).
