DESCRIPTION

As a Field Engineer at Fisk Electric
, reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide technical/engineering support to ensure heavy civil construction work complies with the design, technical requirements, codes and standards. Requires civil background, preferably with construction submittals, subcontractor management, and/or relevant field quality control inspection experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors on advance material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables.
  • Develop/assist with obtaining quotes and draft contracts to meet project requirements.
  • Prepare construction work plan packages and coordinate pre-construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed.
  • Prepare, update, and distribute work activity schedules/updates, and communicate across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times.
  • Monitor and participate daily in field construction process. Provide layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements. Obtain confirmations from design engineer as needed.
  • Assist with subcontract administration and permanent material suppliers through monitoring of correspondence, submittals, RFI's, and performance records; maintain accurate payment records.
  • Assist in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution. Provide accurate and factual assessments of project performance.
  • Participate in change orders and claims management.
  • Develop and manage relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants and field personnel.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and productive environment through enforcing procedures.
  • Maintain project integrity and reputation through compliance with high standards of workplace safety and construction best practices.
  • Identify and resolve changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work.
  • Coordinate and attend pre-bid and construction meetings.
  • Develop quality checks and coordinate permits from appropriate entities.
  • Assist in preparing crossing applications and work plans, assuring quality control, etc. by subcontractor.
  • Manage and submit project close-out in coordination with the client and third parties.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution.
  • 5 or more years of experience on Heavy Civil projects.
  • Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA Requirements.
  • Project controls techniques (i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating, forecasting, and contracts).
  • A strong working knowledge of critical path method, resource scheduling is preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera P6 is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Strong work ethic - Highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Expected salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000 depending on experience.
