OpportunityBlack & Veatch seeks an early‑career Water Resource Planning engineer focused on stormwater, coastal modeling, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The position supports building market share by providing world‑class planning, water resource, and asset management services across U.S. planning and water resources operations.
Key Responsibilities- Support hydrologic and hydraulic planning, modeling, and design of stormwater and wet weather improvements, including open channels, storm sewer systems, detention/retention facilities, dams, levees, and reservoirs.
- Support hydraulic modeling of coastal systems, including ports, wave action, sediment transport, coastal erosion, and surge impacts.
- Model and design water and wastewater facilities using CFD for basins and clarifiers.
- Plan and design green infrastructure, low‑impact development, sustainable watershed measures, and structural BMPs.
- Develop erosion and sediment control plans, including SWPPP.
- Collaborate with stormwater, water quality, and planning partners to leverage new technologies for client benefits.
- 5+ years of water resources planning, stormwater design, dam safety, and/or condition assessment experience.
- Master’s degree in engineering preferred.
- Experience executing water resource planning and design projects.
- Proficiency in virtual collaboration tools (MS Teams, Web Ex, Zoom).
- Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Ansys CFX or other CFD platforms
- ESRI ArcGIS or QGIS
- AutoCAD
- HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, EPA/XP‑SWMM, Info Works
- Capability for site reconnaissance and remote investigations.
- Familiarity with FEMA, USACE, and EPA regulatory requirements.
- Support client‑facing and business development activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
- Professional Engineering License (or ability to obtain within 2 years).
- CFM (preferred).
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, performance, and assignment needs.
