Jacobs is searching for a dynamic Operator I to join our team in El Segundo, CA
. In this role, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Edward
C. Little Water Recycling Facility, its satellite facilities, and the influent pump station, wastewater/water treatment plant equipment, pump stations and performs related work as required. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that compliance and production targets are met under the direct guidance of the Shift Leads and the Operations Supervisor, and with general guidance from the Chief Plant Operator.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment and/or water treatment, engineering, principles and methods of scientific research, current advances in the field of water reclamation and groundwater replenishment, computer hardware and software applications for the operation of an advanced water reclamation facility, general administrative principles and practices, and methods of supervision.
- Operate the facilities and the equipment to achieve compliance and production targets, in the most efficient way possible
- Execute process control orders provided by technical staff and with the approval of the Chief Plant Operator
- Responsible for general housekeeping of job sites, work areas and other areas as assigned.
- Collects samples for compliance and process control
- Coordinates the release of equipment to Maintenance or contractors for repair
- Ensures that equipment is returned at the end of the day and available to the night shift, unless approved by plant management
- Ensures that the plants are run to meet compliance and refinery requirements
- Oversees plant security and reports suspicious activities
- Reports equipment and process issues to superiors as close to the event as possible after securing immediate hazards. Enter work orders as directed.
- Routinely monitors and assesses the treatment processes operating parameters including their manual and automatic control functions and validates or supervises necessary adjustments ensuring the treatment processes operate in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Provides support and guidance in capital projects, Research & Development, and various plant improvement projects.
- Receive chemical deliveries throughout the day.
- Performs unit process rounds for monitoring and compliance.
- Cleaning of the MF and Reverse Osmosis units.
- Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsHere's what you'll need
- One (1) to Four (4) years’ experience in wastewater/water treatment operations
- Ability to meet risk management guidelines is required
- Shift Operator I, a basic or introductory level of knowledge is required
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of collection system operations and maintenance.
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize the materials, methods, tools and equipment used in the construction, maintenance and operation of wastewater treatment systems.
- Knowledge of the laws and regulations relating to wastewater system operations.
- Knowledge and ability to analyze data and maintain computer records.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform standard laboratory sampling and testing.
- Available for stand-by duty and emergencies as needed.
