Brandow & Johnston, currently has an opening for a Design Engineer for our Los Angeles, CA office structural engineering department. Project types include design of new buildings, seismic evaluation and retrofit of existing buildings and tenant improvement projects.
Responsibilities- Provide engineering design, calculations, and preparation of plans and specifications in accordance with federal, state and local agency requirements and general engineering design standards.
- Ability to establish and maintain communication, responsiveness and effective working relationships with design team, clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Provide Construction Administration and support, including but not limited to resolving field issues, reviewing material submittals, and addressing contractor RFIs.
- Create and develop detailed engineering designs using analytical software (such as ETABS, RAM, etc.) and Revit software and other design tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints.
- Perform calculations, simulations, and tests to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Generate and review technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and reports.
- Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to continuously improve design processes and outcomes.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and client presentations to communicate design concepts and progress.
- Work closely with CAD drafters to develop knowledge for the production of construction documents
- Perform other tasks as required
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis from accredited college or university; required
- Masters of Science Degree in Structural Engineering preferred
- 0-2 years of experience in the same or similar role
- Experience with analytical software (such as ETABS, RAM, etc.) and Revit; preferred
- Knowledge of general engineering principals, statics, dynamics of structures and general engineering design
- Basic knowledge of structural design for concrete, steel, timber, and masonry

Pay Range: $31.00 to $34.00 hourly
