Enersion, recognized as one of the Global Cleantech 100 in 2025, is a fast-growing green technology company with offices in both California and Ontario, Canada. Supported by leading clean energy organizations—including SDTC, the U.S. Department of Energy, IESO, Enbridge (via NGIF), Con Edison, and the California Energy Commission (CEC)—Enersion is at the forefront of sustainable innovation.
Founded as a spin-off from the University of Toronto, Enersion has developed Energy Cubed™, an advanced thermally driven heat pump that converts waste heat or solar energy into cooling and heating, eliminating the need for electricity-intensive compressors and synthetic refrigerants. The system uses nano-porous materials and water as a natural refrigerant (0 GWP), enabling cooling, space heating, and hot water production simultaneously.
As data centers become one of the fastest-growing sources of global energy demand, Enersion is pioneering a breakthrough application that turns waste heat from data centers into renewable-powered cooling. This not only improves data center energy efficiency but also enables organizations to recycle their waste heat for useful applications—reducing electricity use, emissions, and operating costs.
In addition, Enersion’s Energy Cubed system integrates seamlessly with solar hybrid photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) panels and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) units—systems that generate both electricity and usable heat. CHP systems can be powered by natural gas or bio-gas, allowing the recovery of waste heat to drive Enersion’s thermally powered heat pump. Together, these technologies create one of the most efficient decentralized energy platforms in the world, capable of delivering cooling, heating, and domestic hot water—all from sustainable sources.
Our clients include municipalities, universities, large commercial facilities, data centers, and industrial clients—organizations leading the transition to clean, efficient, and resilient energy systems.
