The Head Coach serves as the on-site leader responsible for delivering high-quality UFIT structured sports and physical education programming while supervising assistant coaches, ensuring program compliance, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. This role blends instructional excellence, leadership, administration, and school-site relationship management. The Head Coach is the primary representative of UFIT on campus and is accountable for program quality, staff performance, student engagement, and alignment with district and school expectations.
Key Responsibilities Program Delivery & Instruction- Lead daily structured sports, PE, and recess programming aligned with UFIT curriculum and school goals.
- Implement age-appropriate, developmentally sound activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Integrate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) language and behavior-management strategies into all activities.
- Adapt instruction in real time to accommodate space, weather, class size, and student needs.
- Ensure inclusive participation and positive engagement for all students.
- Supervise, mentor, and coach Assistant Coaches on-site.
- Model professional behavior, instructional quality, and UFIT standards at all times.
- Conduct daily staff check-ins and provide real-time feedback.
- Support onboarding, training reinforcement, and performance improvement.
- Escalate performance or conduct concerns per UFIT protocols.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between UFIT and the school administration during programming hours.
- Ensure adherence to school-site policies, safety protocols, and district requirements.
- Manage daily schedules, transitions, equipment setup/breakdown, and student flow.
- Submit required End-of-Day (EOD) reports, incident reports, and attendance logs accurately and on time.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe program environments.
- Enforce UFIT safety standards and emergency procedures.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report hazards immediately.
- Ensure proper supervision ratios at all times.
- Confirm staff compliance with required certifications (CPR/First Aid, TB, clearances, etc.).
- Address student behavior concerns using restorative and SEL-aligned approaches.
- Attend mandatory Sunday leadership meeting (1 hour weekly).
- Participate in required trainings, professional development sessions, and audits.
- Communicate professionally with UFIT leadership, school staff, parents (when appropriate), and students.

- Ability to lift, carry, and set up athletic equipment
- Must pass background checks—TB Test and live scan (at candidate's expense) and meet school-site compliance requirements
- Must complete full professional development course. If successfully passed, a $300 completion credit will be paid after hire in first paycheck.
- Experience working in K-12 school environments
- Knowledge of district-based PE or recess programming
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred but not required)
