Part-time School Chaplain

St. James’ Episcopal School is looking for a Part-Time School Chaplain beginning in August of 2026. This is a 10-month, non-exempt position requiring weekday availability. The successful candidate will take a student-centered approach to all school work and will use the School’s mission to support the academic, extracurricular, social, and emotional success of students.

• teaches Religion class to students in four grades ranging from K-6, including sharing the teaching responsibilities with the Head of School and the Rector of St. James’-in-the-City
• teaches the Godly Play curriculum in grades K-4
• coordinates the Chapel and Assembly schedule with the Senior Administration team
• plans the weekly Chapel, including creating and printing the bulletin, with the help of the Assistant Head of School for Systems & Matriculation
• preaches regularly at Chapel, creating the preaching rotation to include other speakers
• works with the Senior Administration Team to organize the Elementary School Christmas Pageant and Preschool holiday celebration
• performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School or her designee
• reports to the Head of School

Candidates must be an ordained Episcopal priest. This opportunity requires excellent strategies and skills in communication, collaboration, and organization with an appreciation for confidentiality, equity, and belonging.
