Position OverviewThe Lead Career Coach for the Don
B. Huntley College of Agriculture provides strategic leadership for career readiness programming and services serving Agriculture students. This position oversees a multidisciplinary career team, collaborates closely with college leadership and faculty, and builds strong employer and alumni partnerships to ensure students are prepared to navigate evolving career pathways across agriculture, food systems, sustainability, agribusiness, and applied sciences. The Lead Career Coach serves as both a strategic partner and hands‑on leader, shaping innovative, industry‑aligned career development models that support student success from first year through post‑graduation outcomes.
Career Readiness Leadership
- Lead and coordinate the Don
B. Huntley College of Agriculture career team, encompassing functions such as first‑year experience career coaching, college career coaching, employer engagement, internships, job development, and event coordination. - Recommend for hire, develop, train, and supervise career team members who deliver a comprehensive and customized career readiness model.
- Set strategy for industry‑aligned career development services responsive to student needs and aligned with college, departmental, and institutional priorities.
- Ensure effective, efficient day‑to‑day operations of the College of Agriculture career team.
- Collaborate with other College Lead Career Coaches to implement innovative practices, share resources, and deliver institution‑wide initiatives such as campus career fairs.
- Design and deploy assessment strategies to measure outcomes, effectiveness, and impact.
Career Readiness Program Development
- Lead career programs and services that provide personalized career counseling and advising focused on self‑assessment, exploration, job and internship search strategies, reflection, and strategic decision‑making.
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive portfolio of programming, including lectures, speaker series, workshops, trainings, conferences, and cultural events in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Build student career confidence and social capital through targeted programming and curated career content.
- Conduct classroom and student organization presentations addressing career readiness and professional development topics.
- Oversee event logistics and contribute to the creation of marketing and communication materials promoting College of Agriculture career initiatives.
Career Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner closely with deans, faculty, and staff within the Don
B. Huntley College of Agriculture to integrate career readiness into curricular and co‑curricular experiences. - Present career engagement data and metrics to inform strategies that increase student participation and outcomes.
- Collaborate with faculty, alumni, employers, and campus partners to identify career pathways and develop outreach strategies spanning diverse industries.
- Establish and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; represent the Career Center at professional meetings and campus events.
- Identify and expand opportunities for alumni and industry professionals to engage students through mentoring, coaching, workshops, and experiential learning.
- Strengthen employer partnerships to increase the quality, quantity, and diversity of internships and employment opportunities.
- Support experiential learning initiatives, including project‑based learning, internships, and full‑time employment pathways.
- Conduct outreach to alumni, employers, and industry organizations to foster networking and employment pipelines for students and graduates.
