POSITION OVERVIEWThe English Teacher is a full-time teacher and member of Milken’s English Department. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment where value is placed on the skills and passions of the discipline within a larger context of Milken’s school mission, core values, and educational philosophy. Primary responsibilities include teaching 5 English classes per year, serving as a Student Advisor, and collaborating on school-wide programming.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate, and student-centered English lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and academic standards.
- Evaluate student learning using a range of formative and summative assessments, and provide timely, meaningful feedback to support academic growth and skill development.
- Differentiate instruction and provide targeted support or intervention as needed to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and productive classroom environment that promotes collaboration, critical thinking, and respect for diverse perspectives.
- Maintain clear, consistent, and professional communication with students, families, and school administration.
- Support student learning and engagement beyond the classroom through office hours, extracurricular activities, clubs, and school-wide programs.
- Participate in ongoing curriculum review and program development to strengthen the English department and academic program.
- Stay current with best practices in English education, including instructional strategies, educational technology, and relevant research.
- Participate actively in professional development, faculty meetings, and school community events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or relevant field required; master’s degree preferred or teaching credential preferred.
- Previous teaching experience required, at the middle and/or high school level preferred.
- Familiarity with various teaching strategies, assessment techniques, and educational technologies to support student learning and engagement.
- All schedules are subject to change.
Start: M - F by 7:45 AM
End: M - Th 3:30 PM, F 2:30 PM
$75,000 - $95,000
