Description

We're seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher. In this position, you'll be instrumental in planning and executing quality learning experiences tailored to meet the needs of students with varying levels of hearing impairment. You'll craft daily plans to deliver itinerant services, ensuring each student's Individual Education Program (IEP) is effectively implemented through direct instruction.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, support, and instruct students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, addressing their specific educational requirements.
  • Collaborate in the identification, assessment, and instructional planning process for DHH students, actively participating in referrals and assessments.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students initially and triennially, evaluating academic achievement, listening behavior, language, and communication skills to inform IEP goals.
  • Work closely with the IEP team, including parents, teachers, administrators, psychologists, nurses, audiologists, and others, to ensure students receive appropriate services.
  • Develop and implement instructional support tailored to meet individual student needs while integrating IEP goals and objectives.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation of student progress, reporting on IEP goal attainment, and conducting evaluations to determine eligibility.
  • Coordinate and provide specialized materials and equipment to support student learning in the classroom environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities to address the diverse needs of students with hearing impairments.
  • Exceptional time management skills, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and follow through with tasks with minimal supervision.
Knowledge, Skill & Other Requirements
  • Legally eligible to work in California.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education.
  • Previous experience working with diverse caseloads, preferably in Special Education.
  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of Special Education Experience (preferred).
  • Valid Education Specialist teaching credentials, with an authorization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH), or equivalent document issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
  • Valid English Learner authorization (CLAD or equivalent document).
  • Experience working in a school setting, preferably with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.

Salary

$50 - $100 per hour
