Position Overview

UCLA Extension is a premier program offering more than 35,000 students per year, with roughly 4,500 classes and non‑degree certificate programs. This instructor will teach courses in the Design & Arts portfolio, specifically User Experience, Product Design, UI Design, User Research, and AI.

Course Description

Students will engage in 11‑week courses, limited to 20 students, delivered in‑person, asynchronous online, or live Zoom lectures. The instructor will develop/update the course syllabus, design curriculum, deliver lectures, facilitate discussions, and evaluate student work.

Instructor Duties
  • Develop or update the course syllabus.
  • Use subject‑matter expertise to impart knowledge.
  • Design interactive classroom activities.
  • Update materials and monitor evaluations.
  • Respond to student questions promptly.
  • Communicate with Program Director and staff.
  • Complete required administrative tasks (new hire paperwork, quarterly updates, textbook orders, etc.).
  • Complete yearly UC mandated online trainings.
  • Employ culturally competent teaching methodologies.
  • Stay current with professional body of knowledge.
  • Maintain records of final grades for up to 13 months.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • End‑to‑end creation of UX products with portfolio evidence.
  • 3‑5 years industry experience.
  • Commitment to academic standards and integrity.
  • Current knowledge and proficiency in UX specialties.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and online teaching tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College‑level or continuing education teaching experience.
  • Experience designing curriculum and measuring student performance.
