Position InterviewThe Preschool Teacher (Full-Time) is responsible for creating and maintaining a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for young learners. The ideal candidate is a warm, patient, and enthusiastic educator who understands early childhood development and values play-based learning as the foundation for lifelong curiosity and success.
The Preschool Teacher works collaboratively with colleagues and administration to implement a high-quality early childhood program aligned with the mission and faith-based values of C & E Merdinian Armenian Evangelical School.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences that support growth in all developmental domains: social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual
- Design hands-on, exploratory activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration
- Observe, assess, and document children’s development and progress; adapt instruction to meet individual needs
- Support early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skill development through intentional play and guided activities
- Create and maintain a warm, welcoming, organized, and aesthetically pleasing classroom environment
- Foster a positive, respectful, and nurturing classroom culture that promotes self-regulation, independence, friendships, and a sense of belonging
- Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of all students at all times
- Adhere to all health, safety, and licensing regulations
- Build strong, positive relationships with parents and guardians through open and professional communication
- Collaborate with families to support each child’s growth and development
- Partner with fellow teachers and staff to maintain a cohesive, supportive team environment
- Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and preparedness each day
- Participate in monthly faculty meetings, preschool team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
- Attend and support school-wide events throughout the year, including:
- Back-to-School events
- Open House
- School celebrations and fundraisers
- Model professionalism, kindness, and enthusiasm in all interactions
- Support and model the Christian and Armenian Evangelical values of the school
- Foster character development through daily interactions, classroom routines, and play-based experiences
- Participate in faith-based activities, prayer, or celebrations as appropriate within the preschool program
- Demonstrate ethical conduct, integrity, and respect consistent with a faith-based educational environment
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (minimum of 12 ECE units)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with young children in a preschool setting
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and play-based learning principles
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when needed
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Successful completion of background clearance requirements
