AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. AMDA offers various pathways for students to receive unparalleled performing arts education taught by world-class industry professionals, including Professional Conservatory Certificates as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Associate of Occupational Studies, Master of Fine Arts and Master of Arts).

AMDA is seeking a passionate, student-centered, and highly qualified part-time adjunct instructor to teach Film Festivals & Distribution for our Los Angeles campus. This in-person course is designed to prepare emerging filmmakers to professionally launch their completed films by developing the materials required for festival submission, marketing, and distribution. Students focus on creating and refining festival strategies, film festival lists, submission plans, pitch materials, press kits, trailers, loglines, synopses, and sales deliverables, while gaining a working understanding of domestic and international distribution pathways.

Faculty members at AMDA are responsible for providing highly effective instruction through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear documentation of student progress, and support of academic success for all students.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Providing instruction in accordance with established curricula, course outlines, and class schedules
  • Teaching core concepts related to film festivals and distribution, including festival strategy, submissions, sales agents, and distribution models
  • Guiding students in the preparation of professional materials for their completed films, including festival submissions, marketing assets, pitch decks, and press kits
  • Creating and maintaining a learning environment that encourages critical thinking, professional readiness, and open discussion
  • Incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion perspectives within industry case studies and course content
  • Evaluating student progress and assessing written, analytical, and project-based work
  • Maintaining accurate academic records and clear communication regarding student performance
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
  • Staying current with trends in film festivals, distribution platforms, and industry practices
  • Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time adjunct faculty member
Qualifications
  • Degree in Filmmaking, Producing, Entertainment Business, or a closely related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience actively engaged in the film industry, with demonstrated experience in film festivals, sales, and/or distribution
  • Ability to translate real-world industry experience into clear, accessible instruction for emerging filmmakers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience preparing or overseeing festival, marketing, or distribution materials for completed films
Position Information
  • The pay range for this position is $40.00/hour - $60.00/hour. For administrative and tasks assigned or approved outside of classroom teaching hours will be paid at a standard hourly rate of $35.
  • This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check.
  • This is a fully in-person position.
