Position Overview

We are seeking a patient, organized, and engaging homeschool teacher/tutor to support two children (5th grade and 2nd grade) in Math, Reading, and Writing. This role focuses on reinforcing grade-level concepts, building strong academic foundations, and supporting independent learning in a structured but positive environment.

The ideal candidate is confident differentiating instruction for two age groups, communicates clearly, and brings consistency and encouragement to learning.

Responsibilities
  • Provide small-group instruction for a 5th grader and 2nd grader
  • Teach and reinforce Math, Reading, and Writing skills appropriate to each grade level
  • Adapt lessons to meet different learning styles and paces
  • Assist with reading comprehension, writing structure, spelling, and math problem-solving
  • Support organization, focus, and study habits
  • Track progress and communicate updates to parents
  • Maintain a calm, positive, and encouraging learning environment
Requirements (Recommended to Include)
  • Experience tutoring or teaching elementary-age students (classroom, homeschool, or private tutoring)
  • Strong understanding of elementary Math and English Language Arts
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for multiple grade levels
  • Patient, dependable, and child-friendly
  • Clear communication skills with both children and parents
  • Reliable transportation and consistent availability Mon–Wed
Preferred (Nice to Have)
  • Background in education, child development, or a related field
  • Familiarity with homeschool or alternative education settings
  • Experience working with different learning styles or attention needs
  • Ability to create or supplement lesson plans and activities
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
