Position Overview

Concorde Education is seeking an engaging, student-centered Korean Instructor to facilitate a short-format after-school enrichment course for students (grade band varies by assignment). This course introduces learners to foundational Korean language skills and cultural knowledge through interactive, communication-focused instruction. Lessons emphasize speaking and listening practice, high-frequency vocabulary, and confidence-building routines aligned with student readiness. Instruction should be age-appropriate and classroom-friendly, with an emphasis on inclusive participation and practical language use.

The instructor will deliver instruction across a typical 10-week cycle, with pacing adapted to student needs and site logistics.

What You Will Teach

Students will learn introductory Korean communication skills, including greetings, self-introductions, common questions and responses, numbers, dates and time, and everyday vocabulary. Students will also explore Korean culture through accessible topics such as traditions, food, music, geography, and daily life, with activities that encourage cultural curiosity and respectful discussion. Depending on the grade band and program goals, the course can introduce Hangul (Korean alphabet) basics to support reading and writing of simple words and phrases.

  • Everyday conversational routines (asking/answering simple questions)
  • Basic grammar structures (subject particles/concepts, common verbs, simple sentence patterns—intro level)
  • Listening and speaking practice through games, role-plays, and short dialogues
  • Reading and writing basics (labels, simple words/phrases using Hangul, as appropriate)
  • Cultural connections (Korea’s geography, traditions, food, music, and daily life)
  • Age-appropriate cultural projects and presentations
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a 10-session course with clear objectives and engaging, interactive instruction
  • Use routines and activities that prioritize student speaking and listening practice
  • Differentiate instruction to support varying levels of experience and language confidence
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment aligned with site policies and expectations
  • Communicate professionally with site staff and Concorde program contacts regarding attendance and session completion tracking
  • Adapt pacing and activities as needed while maintaining intended course outcomes
  • Support students in completing a culminating artifact demonstrating language growth and cultural learning
Qualifications (Required)
  • Minimum of 60 college credits (or Associate degree in progress/completed)
  • Proficiency in Korean sufficient to teach foundational language skills and model pronunciation
  • Experience working with school-age students in structured settings (school, camp, after-school, tutoring, youth programs)
  • Strong facilitation skills, clear communication, and comfort leading interactive language practice
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional; able to follow school policies and program boundaries
  • Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate activities that build confidence and participation
