Temporary Faculty Pool – Education Leadership for Justice (ELJ) Program (Ed.D. Degree)

Base pay range:
Positions are paid based on rank and experience, with salary ranges as follows:
Lecturer A: $5,507–$6,677;
Lecturer B: $6,221–$13,224;
Lecturer C: $6,825–$14,523;
Lecturer D: $8,593–$15,211.

Graduate Education Programs provide knowledge and advanced training in education, preparing students for professional advancement in education, public service, or private industry. The Department includes MA, MS, Credential, and Certificate programs.

The Educational Leadership for Justice (ELJ) Program prepares executive leaders in the Los Angeles region to focus on liberatory justice in education. It offers an integrated model for P‑12, Community College, University and Non‑Profit learners, using inquiry‑based, problem‑solving curriculum and a cohort model to develop leaders committed to social justice and data‑informed instruction.

The Position

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid‑December; the Spring term begins mid‑January and ends in mid‑May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in the ELJ Program.
  • Collaborate closely with ELJ full‑time and part‑time faculty.
  • Support students in writing and research responsibilities.
  • Provide consistent and effective support and guidance to promote student success through teaching, modeling, and mentoring.
  • Serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Must hold a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Educational Leadership or a closely related discipline.
  • Prior P‑12, community college or university‑level teaching experience and/or relevant industry experience.
  • Current knowledge and experience with policies and initiatives affecting K‑12, community college, and higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from intersecting historically marginalized social groups using innovative instructional approaches.
  • Committed to ongoing professional development and effective use of technology.
  • Experience with and awareness of adult learner populations who are working professionals of diverse ages, cultural backgrounds, primary language, and academic preparation.
  • Experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior university‑level teaching experience and relevant industry experience.
  • Committed to just, equitable, and inclusive education.
  • Demonstrated experience using anti‑racist teaching and social justice pedagogies.
  • Active membership in professional organizations.
  • Knowledge of the Ed.D. program.
  • Experience in Educational Leadership.
  • Employment Requirements

    Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information or if the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.

    Salary and Benefit Information

    Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Salaries for each rank are as listed above. The CSU system offers a competitive total compensation benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and tuition assistance.
