Project Coordinator
Volunteers of America Los Angeles (VOALA) seeks a Project Coordinator to lead high‑school and college‑preparation programs for disadvantaged students. The role supports program goals of enrollment, graduation, academic improvement, and college readiness.
Job SummaryThe Project Coordinator is responsible for meeting annual program goals, including an enrollment goal of 500 participants, to be met by each January.
Pay & BenefitsAnnual salary: $65,208 – $68,640. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
Responsibilities- Supervise, evaluate and recommend candidates for staff positions.
- Collect and submit data for the Annual Performance Report.
- Monitor participant academic progress and develop improvement plans.
- Maintain contact with schools and community partners to promote program services.
- Develop and implement summer enrichment, math tutoring, and college‑career planning workshops.
- Ensure documentation of all program services and participant case load.
- Collaborate with other youth programs and maintain program files.
- Plan parent workshops, college tours, and field trips.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Manage day‑to‑day program operations, budgeting, and timelines.
- Recruit participants and conduct outreach.
- Deliver curriculum on college and career planning, financial literacy, and personal development.
- Coordinate tutorial services and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Supervise group activities and college visits.
- Report to the director and prepare the Annual Performance Report.
- Other duties as required.
- Fingerprint clearance and background check.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, higher education administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of staff supervision, budgeting, program development, evaluation, and compliance experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience with federal TRIO or similar programs for low‑income 9‑12th graders.
- Experience in academic advising, tutoring, and college‑career counseling for secondary students.
- Professional experience overcoming barriers similar to those faced by participants.
- Master’s degree in education, social work, or counseling.
- Formal training in programs that improve secondary school retention and graduation rates.
- Experience preparing high‑school students for admission and financial aid.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Ability to network with staff at other pre‑college programs.
