Company Description

The Multicultural Learning Center (MLC) is a K-8 dual immersion (Spanish/English) public charter school that brings together a diverse community of learners where cultural and individual differences are the building blocks of academic, social, and intrapersonal success.

MLC is looking for educators with a passion for bilingual education and social justice. We are a school focused on the development of biliterate and globally and social-emotionally competent scholars. Candidates will demonstrate experience in constructivist teaching methodology, project-based learning, restorative behavior practices and classroom management, collaboration with others, social-emotional learning, and language acquisition.

MLC is located in Canoga Park in the heart of the San Fernando Valley.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow substitute plan provided by teacher for all academic and social emotional learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with teachers on the grade level team as necessary and seek input for implementing learning plans.
  • Take daily attendance per instructions provided by teacher or school administration
  • Create and maintain effective and safe learning environments for student learning
  • Follow guidance provided to maintain health and safety of students including COVID-19 protocols for masking, distancing, and sanitizing.
  • Support student behavior by following systems provided by teacher and utilizing positive discipline strategies to re-engage and support students.
  • Collaborate with Resource Teachers or Aides to support and address needs of students with disabilities and proactively engage in discussions to meet student academic and social emotional needs.
  • Seek counsel from the Director of Student Services immediately for students presenting significant or concerning academic, social or behavioral needs.
  • Communicate with school Principal or Director to address any concerns or questions and to ensure continuity of instruction
Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish and academic level vocabulary and syntax expertise in both languages
  • Bachelor's Degree
Additional Information

Pay rate: $30 per hour
