Full-Time Fletcher Jones Chair / Assistant Professor, Nursing Department, Tenure Track position
Reporting to the Dean of Nursing, the Fletcher Jones Chair is a full‑time, tenure‑track position that will work strategically across all MSMU nursing programs to prepare future nursing leaders in the community health arena. This person will develop partnerships with area community and community health organizations in linguistically and culturally diverse Los Angeles communities.
The Fletcher Jones Chair will also seek to collaborate with faculty and/or other MSMU departments to develop and integrate community health curricula and oversee associated nursing student service‑learning opportunities within the community. They will promote research and educational programs and support faculty and/or student community‑related scholarly activities.
Position Annual Hiring Salary: $80,000 - $84,000.
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate’s qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
The Fletcher Jones Endowed Chair will develop and supervise multiple ongoing opportunities for students to engage in community service learning in traditional and non‑traditional healthcare arenas.
- Teach 1-5 units per AY
The most complex aspects of this job will be maintaining existing partnerships and building new relationships for community health service learning.
May require weekend or evening work.
Supervisory Responsibility- No staff or student employee responsibility
- Will supervise nursing students in the community setting

- Demonstrated success working with and within teams
- Must have knowledge of all research traditions
- Must have knowledge of Evidenced-based Practice
- An earned doctoral degree in nursing or a closely related profession from an accredited university
- Must have an MSN
- Five years of registered nurse experience
- Two years of work in public or community health
- Two years teaching in pre‑and post‑licensure nursing programs
- One year providing direct patient care
- One year of managerial experience
- Grant application and management experience (preferred)
- California registered nurse license or eligibility to obtain
- Must have a publication and/or presentation history
