Children in Harmony (CIH) is a global, non‑profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide the tools and resources youth need to make their voices heard through music‑making, emotional learning, and community engagement. CIH creates safe spaces for children and youth to embrace music‑making and creative expression as a way of exploring emotional health. We believe helping young people understand and effectively communicate emotions is essential to developing resilience and the skills needed to navigate complex situations and a changing world.
Through our flagship program, The Amani Project, we integrate Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) into music education, strengthening emotional intelligence, confidence, and community connection. Since 2017, CIH has reached thousands of youth worldwide and is soon launching in the U.S.
CIH seeks a Programs & Engagement Manager (Consultant) to lead implementation of its flagship program, The Amani Project, and advance community engagement initiatives. This is a contract‑based position for an experienced nonprofit program manager or arts educator with strong outreach and facilitation skills, with potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager oversees day‑to‑day program operations and serves as the primary point of contact for school districts, partner organizations, and teaching artists. The Manager builds and stewards partnerships, coordinates program logistics, develops and adapts curriculum and educational materials, recruits and trains volunteers and teaching artists, and curates engagement events that foster inclusion, creativity, and belonging.
The Manager will also be directly involved in classroom facilitation and on‑site instruction, working alongside Teaching Artists and program partners during the initial implementation phase to ensure high‑quality delivery of CIH’s music‑based SEL curriculum. As the team expands, the role will gradually shift from hands‑on facilitation to coaching, evaluation, and program oversight.
This position blends relationship‑centered leadership with data‑informed program planning and evaluation, ensuring CIH’s Amani Project continues to deliver meaningful, culturally responsive music education experiences. It is an exciting opportunity for a mission‑driven arts educator or program leader eager to strengthen and expand partnerships, mentor Teaching Artists, and help shape CIH’s next phase of growth in the U.S.
