Logic, Critical Thinking & Philosophy Faculty

American Musical and Dramatic Academy invites applications for the part‑time/adjunct instructor position in Philosophy, Critical Thinking, and Applied Logic. The role will be based on the AMDA College of the Performing Arts campuses in New York City and Hollywood.

AMDA is one of the foremost post‑secondary performing arts colleges in the country. We offer Professional Conservatory Certificates, undergraduate and graduate degrees (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Associate of Occupational Studies, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Arts) taught by world‑class industry professionals.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules.
  • Create and maintain an environment that emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas, and fosters critical thinking.
  • Evaluate student progress and assess student work.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Continuously update current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/adjunct faculty member.
  • Maintain accurate academic records.
Qualifications
  • Applicants with a terminal degree in philosophy or a related field will be prioritized.
  • Applicants with extensive experience in higher education and a Master’s degree in philosophy or a related field will also be considered.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching philosophy, critical thinking, and/or applied logic courses in a post‑secondary setting.
  • Experience with or willingness to explore innovative teaching methodologies beyond lecture mode.
  • Currency and depth of knowledge in the applicable professional field.
  • Commitment to teaching strategies and practices that enhance student success at higher education institutions, including effective use of technology.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning.
  • Ability to apply discipline expertise in a manner that is relevant to emerging performing artists.
Position Information
  • The pay range is $45.00 per hour – $60.00 per hour. Administrative tasks outside classroom hours will be paid at $35.00 per hour.
  • Background check and reference check required upon conditional offer.
  • On‑campus teaching opportunity.
