Position

Summary

The UCLA Pritzker Center for Strengthening Children and Families brings together a multidisciplinary network across campus and Los Angeles County to advance prevention strategies that safely reduce the need for foster care while promoting equitable child welfare reform. Collaboration is central to the Center’s mission. Through research, education, and partnership, the Center serves as a bridge between UCLA and communities across the region, working with researchers and community leaders to challenge and address systemic issues contributing to Los Angeles County’s disproportionate child welfare involvement.

Under the oversight of the Executive Director and faculty, the Racial Equity Hub Project Director will lead, manage, and implement the vision of the Center’s Leadership Team for the creation, launch, and development of the UCLA Pritzker Center Racial Equity Hub for Child Welfare Reform. The purpose of the Hub is to address the racialized nature of foster care and its consequences for minoritized children and families, including immigrants and LGBTQ+ youth.

The incumbent will oversee all aspects of the project, including:

  • Research Synthesis and Public Portal Development:
The Project Director will lead efforts to synthesize and build upon existing research and data within a publicly accessible portal that shares findings from interventions and highlights relevant internal and external work. This role will prioritize engagement with individuals and Transitional Age Youth (TAY) with lived experience as researchers. The Project Director will also oversee dissemination of research through media outreach, social media, and webinars to ensure broad visibility and community engagement.
  • Training, Capacity Building, and Convenings:
The Project Director will lead the development and implementation of training programs, support resources, and convening opportunities aimed at increasing knowledge and capacity around racial equity. Activities include webinars, workshops, peer learning sessions, and national or regional convenings. Efforts will be designed to be inclusive and accessible, with emphasis on engaging individuals and TAY with lived experience as facilitators and contributors.

Evaluation tools will be used to measure effectiveness and impact.
  • Policy and Practice Integration:
The Project Director will collaborate with relevant staff to ensure the portal clearly communicates policy and practice implications through reports and briefings. The role will also provide ongoing technical assistance—including training sessions and collective learning opportunities—to support the integration of racial equity strategies into policy and practice. These efforts may also benefit other marginalized communities, including Indigenous families and immigrant and LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Requirements:
The Project Director must have extensive knowledge of the child welfare system and intersecting issues such as race, disability, poverty, health, mental health, and education. While the Hub’s primary focus is Los Angeles County’s child welfare system, state and federal systems are also relevant. Under the oversight of the Executive…
