Full-Time (40 hours per week), Part-Year, Non-Exempt, and Union Position
Compensation Range
: $21.97 - $29.54 - Hourly Rate Based on Qualifications of Position PLUS Benefits
Hiring bonus: A hiring bonus of $500 is offered and is contingent on successful completion of the probation period as follows: 250 at mid-point review (3 months from hire) and 250 at successful completion of the 6 months introductory (probationary) period.

Hours:
10 Paid Holidays, 14 Paid Sick leave, includes 15.5 Days of Personal Necessity (accrue at 9.5 hours per month; 1 year of employment = 114 hours).

Work Location: FOUNDATION FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, INC. (Sites)
Will be assigned to report to designated sites HS/EHS/SPS sites. Locations include Boyle Heights, Echo Park, Hollywood, Highland Park, and Lincoln Heights.
Substitute Positions are available:
Day-to-Day or Long-Term assignments.
A staff person who assists teaching staff of a Head Start and/or State Preschool Child Development Center and facilitates activities for children designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth. Assists in planning individual and group activities to stimulate learning according to the ages of children and the Creative Curriculum. This position is situated in the Educational Service component of a Head Start and/or State Preschool program.
Qualifications,Experience, and Skills
Education: A valid California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher, or at least 6 ECE units with a pathway to earning a Child Development permit (Associate or higher). Candidates with 6 ECE units must enroll in one of LACOE’s Career Development Initiative Pathways.
Preferred (not required): Associate degree or enrollment in a program in early childhood education, child development, or related field from an accredited institution (Minimum of 24 ECE units).
Experience: Completion of training on curriculum, instruction, teaching practices, CLASS, and DRDP must be completed within six months of hire.

Skills:
Ability to provide responsive and nurturing teacher-child interactions and to plan and implement learning experiences. Demonstrates knowledge of the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework and state standards, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners as appropriate. Works cooperatively with others. Seeks professional development. Strong English written and oral communication. Uses effective teaching practices aligned with CLASS. Demonstrates competency as a Teacher.
Licenses/Permits/
Certifications:
California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher;
First Aid and CPR.
Prior to hire:
Eligibility to work; medical examination including required immunizations; fingerprint clearances (DOJ, FBI, CACI); valid California driver’s license or reliable transportation. Failure to meet medical standards or clearance may result in withdrawal of appointment.
Physical Demands – The required physical demands are those for performing essential job functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made. Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; occasional standing and walking; ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
