Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA Office of Outreach and Pathway Programs offers specialized pathway programs (SHPEP, PREP, and RAP) focused on the preparation of pre-medical and pre-health students. The Programs provide critical exposure to the fields of medicine and health care, instruction in science, other academic subjects, and the healthcare environment in the United States, as well as preparation and guidance for the admission processes for medical and health sciences professional schools.

This position serves as a group facilitator and mentor for the Summer Pathway Programs participants ("scholars") hosted by the Office of Outreach & Pathway Programs. In small groups with pathway scholars, Tutors will facilitate scholar reflection on the program, assist scholars with program assignments, and lead the scholars in the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Case study. In this role, you will also check in weekly with their direct supervisor for updates and problem-solving.

A critical aspect of the Tutor role is both formal and informal mentorship for the Pathway Scholars. Tutors may be hired for one or both Pathway Programs.
