Employment Status Notice:

Any individual hired into an AMU-represented position with a start date on or after September 15 will be classified as an at-will, probationary employee. At the conclusion of the school year, there may be an opportunity to transition to regular employee status.

Credential and License Requirements

California-Based Educators (by July 2026)

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Hold or be eligible for a California Preliminary or Clear Single Subject Teaching Credential in English, OR
  • Be eligible for a California Single Subject Intern Teaching Credential in English (Intern credential must be earned by July 2026), OR
  • Be eligible for a Short-Term Staff Permit (STSP) or Provisional Internship Permit (PIP) and hold a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross

Notes for Multiple Subject Credential Holders

  • Candidates with a Preliminary or Clear Multiple Subject credential must also have at least 12 post-secondary semester units in English coursework
  • Multiple Subject credential holders will only be eligible for middle school English positions
  • Multiple Subject Intern credentials cannot be accepted
