POSITION SUMMARY

Spanish teacher with previous experience and understanding of and interest in student-centered and experiential instructional practices and backward design curriculum planning from Monday 10/30 to Friday 11/18, 2023.

Department members work closely to create a coherent learning experience that has been designed to prepare students for lifelong learning as global citizens with keen minds, exemplary character, self-knowledge, and the ability to lead.

ASSOCIATED RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach 4 Upper School Spanish sections (2 sections of AP Spanish Language, 1 section of Spanish 2, and 1 section of Spanish
    3) of 4-14 students.
  • Create an inclusive classroom environment of mutual respect and rapport; incorporate anti-bias practices into the classroom culture and apply Chadwick's shared equitable assessment and grading practices.
  • Collaborate to plan curriculum around shared learning outcomes, skill sequences, content knowledge, and enduring understandings and essential questions; all curriculum and instruction will be supported by the permanent teacher's planning, Spanish Coordinator, and collaborative teaching partners.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques to engage students in active, experiential learning.
  • Demonstrate the ability to proactively reflect on and participate in discussions around identity, race, and issues of social justice.
  • Use Chadwick principles of assessment and grading to assess, record, and provide feedback on student learning and next steps. The Spanish Coordinator and Director of Teaching and Learning will support this work.
  • Keep documentation of grades and student feedback as instructed.
  • Keep information systems up to date, including Google calendars, Google Classrooms, and grade books.
  • Attend relevant department and faculty meetings and school events.
  • Supervise students as assigned, such as chaperoning, lunchtime supervision, and study hall.
