LOCATION: This position is expected to be in schools 80% of the time, and 20% in the Partnership office in Downtown LA or working remotely.

As an independent nonprofit organization, the Partnership serves 13,550 students across 20 LA Unified schools in Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts.
ABOUTTHE POSITION
The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is seeking Secondary Literacy Coaches to join our mission to improve learning and academic achievement for students in the Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts communities. The Partnership Instructional Coaching Program’s purpose is to cultivate, align, and codify conditions for instructional coaching best practices, and Partnership Coaches are key resources in closing opportunity gaps through building teacher capacity.
Coaches partner with one school within our network and work onsite to cultivate teacher capacity by providing professional development, supporting teachers to develop and implement impactful curriculum aligned with Common Core Literacy standards, and collaborating with teachers using data to improve learning goals and outcomes. Coaches work with the Partnership School Transformation team – including a team of other Coaches – to strategically plan and implement instructional initiatives.
POSITIONRESPONSIBILITIES
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work with Partnership School Transformation and Literacy teams to develop and execute priority initiatives for Literacy instruction at Partnership schools.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of Literacy curricular materials, including curriculum maps, common assessments, technology-connected learning programs, and other tools to support teachers and students in meeting Common Core standards.
- Collaborate with school administration to support effective instruction of Common Core, ensuring systems are in place for the Literacy team to be successful.
- Collaborate with other members of the Partnership Instructional Team and Literacy Teams to coordinate activities, develop teacher support resources, address issues and concerns, and exchange best practices.
Teacher Coaching, Training, & Support
- Build teacher capacity to implement Common Core Literacy instruction, including utilizing curriculum maps, planning from standards, developing units and lessons that incorporate culturally responsive pedagogy and practices, developing assessments, implementing instructional strategies, and using data to inform instruction.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and facilitate coaching conversations with the goal of teacher growth and student learning.
- Design and deliver school-specific professional development to support the delivery of Literacy instruction and provide teachers and leaders with instructional resources related to Common Core.
- Lead the development of a team-based, collaborative, and data-centric environment for teachers that is focused on student outcomes.
Data & Impact
- Facilitate data inquiries on an ongoing basis to assess the progress and needs of schools, teachers, and instructional initiatives, and support leaders and teachers in analyzing and responding to the data.
- Work with school leaders to plan for and lead data cycles with grade-level or department teams of teachers.
- Create, implement, and maintain trackers for data, coaching, professional development, and other requests from the Director and school administrators.
- Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and Partnership teammates to enhance instruction and learning for students.
