Cedars-Sinai is looking for a Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our expanding Thoracic Surgery Team at Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center. The Thoracic Surgery Department provides specialized care for a wide range of conditions within the chest cavity, including acid reflux and hiatal hernia. Our expert team offers advanced surgical solutions for both benign and malignant conditions affecting the trachea, lung, esophagus, mediastinum, and chest wall.
Utilizing cutting-edge 3D surgical techniques, our surgeons perform procedures with smaller incisions, resulting in better outcomes, reduced blood loss, and quicker recovery times. Our thoracic surgeons are also trained in robotic surgery, equipping them with the skills and experience to conduct safe and effective procedures. Our multidisciplinary team includes surgeons, oncologists, anesthesiologists, and other specialists, ensuring comprehensive patient care. We prioritize prompt testing, offering same-day or within 24-hour services to quickly address patient needs.
Additionally, we employ robotic bronchoscopy to detect early-stage lung nodules that are difficult to reach with traditional biopsy methods. At Cedars-Sinai, our commitment to innovation and excellence in thoracic surgery ensures that our patients receive the highest quality care.
This position will primarily be based at Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center and the outpatient clinic, but will also involve assisting the supervising physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and participating in training there.
Responsibilities- Work in close collaboration with the supervising physician as well as independently.
- Provide pre- and post-op assessments of patients.
- Will perform consults to acquire relevant health and medical history.
- Performs a physical examination based on age and history and dictates progress notes for follow-up with appropriate physician/s.
- Complete orders related to preventive and diagnostic procedures based on the patient’s medical history.
- Assist physician by performing screening, consultation and follow-up calls to answer questions from patients.
- Provide surgical assistance in the Operating Room.
- Rounding on patients in the hospital with the physician and independently. Will write orders in Recovery Room, ICU, and floor.
- Follow patients and write daily progress notes.
- Maintain clear communication with the attending surgeon and any consultants regarding patient status both pre- and post-discharge.
- Could potentially lead an independent clinic as the volume grows.
- A graduate degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program.
- Current California PA license.
- DEA License required.
- National PA certification.
- Life Support Certification
- One year of experience as a Physician Assistant (PA-C), preferably in thoracic surgery, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, or other surgical specialty.
- Experience as a first assist and/or robotic surgery highly preferred.
