The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles invites applications for a full‑time faculty position in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series, specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery. Qualified candidates must have completed an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program, successfully completed an Orthopaedic Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship, be board certified or board eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery, and be able to obtain a California medical license.
Candidates are expected to have excellent clinical skills and be willing to actively participate in medical education.
Faculty rank and step with UCLA will be determined and commensurate with the applicant’s background and accomplishments.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Developing a shoulder and elbow reconstruction specialty practice at UCLA Health.
- Taking an active role in teaching activities of the department, including supervision of residents and medical students who rotate on the Orthopaedic services at the Medical Centers, participation in teaching conferences, didactic courses, grand rounds, and clinical teaching during patient care sessions.
- Contributing creatively to administrative, academic, and research activities within the department, and participating in university public services. Evidence of scholarly contributions is a requirement for advancement in the health sciences clinical series; this can include publication, development of teaching programs, participation in research, or creative participation in the advancement of a university professional practice program.
- Providing state‑of‑the‑art, patient‑centered care and covering general orthopaedic surgery trauma call.
- Engaging in the education of medical students, residents, fellows, serving the university community, and augmenting one of the nation’s leading departments.

Qualified candidates must hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent, have completed an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program, and successfully completed an Orthopaedic Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship.
Additional qualificationsCandidates should be board certified or board eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery, and have or be eligible for a California medical license.
Preferred qualificationsCandidates who have demonstrated excellence in research, preferably with a track record of extramural funding, are preferred.
