Position SummaryThe Optometrist evaluates patients with potential eye or vision problems referred by pediatricians. Obtains medical history and performs eye examinations for patients in the Vision Center. Treats optometric conditions and triages ophthalmic conditions to an appropriate pediatric ophthalmologist. Also performs a variety of patient activities to assist physicians and division personnel.
Minimum Qualifications- 2+ years of practice in optometry with emphasis on children, contact lens fitting, and pediatric refractions.
- Completion of an optometry residency program highly preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of state‑of‑the‑art examining procedures and equipment, and contact lens materials and designs.
- Ability to put infants and children at ease while conducting eye examinations and fitting contact lenses.
- Candidates who have just completed pediatric fellowship will be considered.
- Graduation from an accredited school of optometry.
- Completed a fellowship in Pediatric Optometry or an equivalent of 3+ years’ experience in Pediatric Optometry.
- California Board of Optometry Certificate and AHA BLS certification are required.

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description.
Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
