Project Architect - Aviation + Transportation

In partnership with the Project Manager and Project Designer, the role is accountable for project financial performance and team communication. Responsibilities include the issuance and content of deliverables, technical content of HOK documents, coordination of disciplines and consulting, supervision of all staff producing documents, primary responsibility for construction phase services in collaboration with the PM, securing QA reviews, implementing comments, signing/sealing drawings as a licensed architect, and contributing to a culture of technical excellence.

• Ensure the overall design intent of the project established by the Project Designer is incorporated into detailed documentation.
• Monitor the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring consistency and proper execution.
• Provide technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of the project.
• Work with the Specification Writer to develop specifications and coordinate drawings and specifications.
• Check completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy.
• Set the overall strategy for producing documents and identify sheets planned for each stage of the work, defining data organization into files and BIM elements.
• Set up project team software parameters and manage standards.
• Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with the Project Leadership Team.
• Communicate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to incorporate all information into project requirements, providing support as needed.
• Ensure construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
• Supervise preparation of technical drawings by less senior architects or technicians.
• Perform as team leader on certain projects.
• Mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff, participate in professional development reviews and lessons learned sessions.
• Take personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
• Foster a commitment to external and internal client service.

• Develop a positive relationship of trust with client leadership.
• Regularly communicate with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, review progress, and deliver final presentation.

• Receive project direction from the Principal in Charge and technical direction from the RBU Technical Principal.
• Coordinate use and track shared electronic documentation and files with project team, clients, and consultants.
• Assist in planning and conducting work, making minor adaptations and modifications to complete working drawing sets.
• Meet with municipal building department and other governing agency officials to coordinate approvals or variances.
• Write reports and memos to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions.
• Provide technical support and project communications to the team as required.
• Attend on‑site visits, field reviews, and project meetings; prepare and coordinate review of contractor's schedules, shop drawings, and samples.
• Assist the Specification Writer in product research, consulting with manufacturers, evaluating and selecting project‑related materials.
• Involve with specification set‑up and drawing coordination, research, and appropriate use of HOK Standards.
• Provide support to all team members for specific market, discipline, or other areas of expertise.
• Participate in team meetings to resolve project issues, coordinate with other disciplines, schedule adherence, and technical issues.
• Participate in review of project costs and budgets, adherence to schedule.
• Prepare meeting minutes of consultant coordination meetings.
• May prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings and build models for client/project team review.
• Incorporate integrated sustainable design solutions into projects.
