The Video Specialist role at Prager

U is a high-energy, detail-oriented, and highly self-managed position. This individual needs to be an all-around video expert, capable of taking on multiple projects, traveling, and working with the Prager

U team to produce great content that educates and engages viewers, donors, and the team. This is an all-hands‑on‑deck team in an extremely fast-paced setting. Ideal candidate would have camera, lighting, and editing experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • This is a primarily technical position rather than a creative one, though there are opportunities for creative input.
  • At this time, we are looking for an on set
    camera & lighting aficionado
    . This role will consist of roughly 60% on‑set technical work (camera operating/management, lighting, equipment management, travel for filming, etc.) and 40% post‑production (editing, basic motion graphics, etc.).
  • The Video Specialist should be proficient with video production.
    • Able to capture quality footage, including polished interview setups, high-value profile shots, scrappy unscripted style, b‑roll, and more.
    • Extremely knowledgeable about working with a variety of camera types and tools, including tripods, monopods, handheld, Easyrig, etc.
    • Knowledgeable with lighting and grip equipment, techniques, and strategies for both indoor and outdoor projects.
    • Can work effectively both as part of a film crew under a DP, and as an independent one‑man band without backup.
    • Able to record quality in‑camera sound on location.
    • Able to troubleshoot and handle problems on the go.
    • Comfortable and composed when engaging with a variety of people, from high‑profile guests to pedestrians, including occasional hostile situations because of politically‑charged content.
  • The Video Specialist should be proficient with video post‑production.
    • Skilled at editing, sound editing, color correction, and light motion graphics.
    • Knowledgeable with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere, Photoshop, and After Effects, as well as audio software such as Pro Tools and/or Audition (Logic Pro is a plus).
    • A knowledge of codecs, file types, file structures, and post processes.
    • Able to work directly with multiple creative leads and managers to discuss and implement editorial notes.
    • Able to take ownership of work, but also able to hand off work to be finished by someone else, or to pick up where others have left off, when necessary.
    • Has an eye for crafting story, and for turning footage into narrative episodes within the guidelines of a show format or brand.
    • Knowledge of After Effects & motion graphics highly desired.

  • A quick thinker and a fast learner, technologically savvy, and process‑minded.
  • Imperative to be able to communicate, prioritize, and self‑manage.
  • Willing and able to take direction from different leaders but also bring his/her ideas and thoughts to the table.
  • An eye for quality and a passion for excellence.
  • Traveling may be required, including flying and/or long driving.
