Traveling Assistant Project Manager - LSC

Overview

The Assistant Project Manager assists in the planning, management, and execution of work for assigned construction projects. They lead tasks to manage the project’s quality standards, owner expectations, and overall subcontractor management. The role requires mastery of Project Engineering tasks and a cursory understanding of financial management and project reporting. The individual will assess and respond to customer needs while cultivating relationships and may be assigned one or more projects at a time.

• Assist with the overall planning, management, and execution of the construction project from inception to closeout.
• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in preparing the Project Management Plan (PMP) and its implementation within the project.
• Organize and conduct pre-construction planning meetings.
• Participate in value engineering services as appropriate during preconstruction.
• Obtain and review plans and specifications to determine completeness and consistency, including the ability to obtain permits and resolve regulatory requirements as necessary.
• Manage project materials and equipment procurement within the project budget and delivery schedule.
• Negotiate owner and subcontractor change orders and manage the resulting cost and profit impact.
• Lead/delegate Project Engineering tasks when applicable and provide mentorship where appropriate.
• Control the payment of job costs based on document review and approval; coordinate with the job cost accountant for payments and lien releases; participate in monthly job cost reviews to declare project status.
• Coordinate all final close-out procedures for the project including as-built drawing, punch lists, final billing, occupancy permit, owner acceptance, project manuals, warranty letters, subcontractor close-out, letter of substantial completion, and letter of recommendation.

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the construction industry.
• Minimum of two or more years of commercial construction experience.

The full salary range for this position is $80,000 to $120000. This position is eligible for a target bonus.

This position requires the ability and willingness to travel outside of California for extended assignments. Employees will have the opportunity to travel home approximately once per month and will return permanently to California at the conclusion of their travel assignments.
