About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading construction company, is seeking a Purchasing Manager to support the team during a leave of absence. This is a long-term temporary role with the possibility of the role turning into a temp-to-hire position.

This position is fully in-office at the Culver City headquarters and plays a crucial role in sourcing and purchasing all building materials for ongoing residential construction projects. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the purchasing of all building materials required for assigned homebuilding projects
  • Prepare and distribute bid packages for new builds, revisions, and plan updates
  • Review, compare, and evaluate all bids against specifications and project requirements
  • Maintain an updated master bid list, onboarding new vendors and subcontractors as needed
  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms to ensure competitive cost structures
  • Issue and process contracts, purchase orders, and documentation
  • Support Construction, Land Development, Design, Forward Planning, Sales, and Customer Care with timely updates and information flow
  • Communicate pricing and material changes to internal stakeholders
  • Administer contract timelines and ensure compliance with the scopes of work
  • Conduct cost analysis, manage budget revisions, and review plan change impacts
  • Prepare month-end budget reports, including spend, variances, and change orders
  • Participate in field walks to identify cost savings, specification changes, or quality improvements
What You’ll Bring
  • 3–5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience within residential construction or homebuilding (highly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and subcontractor scopes of work
  • Proven ability to negotiate effectively and manage vendor relationships
  • Experience preparing bids, evaluating proposals, and managing contracts
  • Professional, assertive communication style with the ability to work closely with various subcontractors and internal departments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (highly preferred but not required with strong experience)
  • Experience with HB1 or similar systems is a plus
