Overview

Title: Trauma-Informed Care Advisor - Childcare Bridge Program

Job Type: Full-time, 37.5 hrs/week

Compensation: $36-$42/hr, Plus Robust, Comprehensive Benefits Package

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

Primary Duties: The Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) Advisor provides training, coaching, and technical to childcare providers participating in the Child Care Bridge Program and other agency programs. The TIC Advisor supports providers in strengthening their capacity to care for young children who have experienced trauma by increasing awareness of children’s unique developmental, mental health, attachment, and relational needs.

  • Act as a resource and guide family childcare providers in incorporating Trauma-Informed Care practices
  • Communicate with family childcare providers to gain an understanding of mental health and behavioral concerns in the environment and develop individual support plans
  • Support providers to transition newly placed children into their care
  • Provide, create, and implement provider training on Trauma-Informed Care
  • Provide one-on-one coaching, advising, and mentoring for the childcare provider
  • Work collaboratively with Child Care Bridge Program Teams, both internal and external
  • Participate in collaborative meetings with the Bridge Coordinators and Bridge Navigator, the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) workers, Foster Family Agencies, and other community partners
  • Participate in ongoing trauma-informed care, and related trainings and professional development
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of trauma-informed care, mental health issues of children in the foster care system, developmentally appropriate practices, effective training and coaching strategies, licensing regulations, and DCFS practices regarding the Child Care Bridge program
  • Maintain accurate and timely records to meet Child Care Bridge contract requirements and prepare reports as needed and required
  • Maintain records of program activities and track participation of providers
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively as part of a team with colleagues and staff within the Agency, DCFS, CCALA, as well as other agencies, as required for effective program implementation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Child Development, or related field, or an MFT, from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in child development-related programs.
  • Experience and ability to work with adult learners and diverse client populations. Familiarity with the childcare provider population.
  • Knowledge and experience regarding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), toxic stress, and how trauma impacts child development.
  • Knowledge of child abuse/crisis intervention techniques and resiliency interventions preferred. Trauma-informed certifications are highly preferred.
  • Bilingual:
    English/Spanish, Required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, client database software, and Internet search engines.
Additional Requirements
  • Must have a Valid CA Driver’s license and insurance. Must have the use of a motor vehicle.
  • Must provide current verification of a valid TB clearance and be compliant with all current Community Care Licensing requirements regarding vaccinations.
  • Must successfully pass the Department of Justice (DOJ) criminal background check before the first day of employment.
  • Must be CPR/First-Aid Certified or become certified within the first three months of employment.
