Overview
Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) is dedicated to winning Democratic majorities and building Democratic power in state legislatures. The DLCC grows governing power by winning and holding majorities, building capacity to be self-sustaining, and expanding the map cycle to shape the future of the country. As the official party committee for state legislatures, the DLCC also represents and elevates our ballot level on the national stage to attract attention and resources.
Over the last decade, the DLCC has worked to reverse electoral trends and shift state legislative maps. The organization provides data, targeting, organizing, digital, communications, fundraising support, and strategic expertise to states, working year-round to win races and lay groundwork for future Democratic wins. When majorities are secured, Democrats advance an agenda that protects freedoms and builds an economy for all.

PositionPress Assistant
The DLCC seeks a Press Assistant to join the Marketing & Communications Department. The Press Assistant will work within the press team to execute the DLCC’s narrative, highlight the work of Democratic legislatures across the country, draft written materials, and monitor the media landscape nationally and in target states. The role reports to the Communications Director. The DLCC is a hybrid organization located in Washington, DC.
This position would ideally be based in Washington, DC, though eligible to be permanently remote. This role is part of a collective bargaining unit.

- Draft external and internal communications and manage approvals for press releases, talking points, memos, newsletters, op-eds, public remarks for the President, and more.
- Assist in drafting rapid response and executing press opportunities.
- Manage the press inbox and assist with responding to press inquiries.
- Monitor news and compile daily press clips.
- Maintain and grow national and regional press lists and press partners lists.
- Provide staff support for in-person and virtual press events.
- Identify new and emerging media opportunities, alongside legacy media.
- Coordinate with other departments to support the DLCC’s message online and ensure an integrated cross-channel communications plan.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- DLCC’s brand is consistent in written materials across channels and responsive to news and long-term narrative goals.
- DLCC knowledge of and outreach to media outlets are cultivated to increase coverage.
- DLCC staff and voices have information to align on messaging, talking points, and priorities.
- DLCC’s media list accurately identifies outlets, reporters, and bookers for the department to communicate the committee’s message and successes.
