BUSINESS ANALYST (Level III)
Duration: 4 Months with possible 6 months extension
Location:
Los Angeles, CA
Minimum Experience Requirement
- Ten (10) or more years of overall experience performing business analysis functions.
- Experience working within a K-12 school district, county office of education, charter management organization, or similar public education environment.
- Familiarity with K-12 operational areas such as student enrollment, attendance, scheduling, special education, assessments, budgeting, HR, payroll, and school operations.
- Understanding of state and federal reporting requirements (e.g., CALPADS, ESSA, IDEA) and compliance data needs.
- Hands-on experience with major K-12 platforms (e.g., Aeries, Power School, Infinite Campus, Synergy, Illuminate).
- Ability to analyze SIS data structures, workflows, and integrations to support process improvements and data accuracy.
- Experience supporting SIS migrations, enhancements, or cross-system integrations.
- Proven ability to diagnose data-quality issues, design data validation processes, and develop sustainable data governance practices.
- Experience compiling and analyzing education data for dashboards, accountability reporting, and performance metrics.
- Knowledge of reporting tools used in K-12 (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio).
- Experience mapping and redesigning processes across school sites and central office departments.
- Skill in identifying workflow bottlenecks in areas such as enrollment, master scheduling, attendance accounting, discipline entry, or special education case management.
- Ability to develop standardized procedures that increase staff efficiency and reduce compliance errors.
- Ability to collaborate with principals, counselors, registrars, teachers, IT staff, HR/payroll teams, and executive leadership.
- Skilled at facilitating work groups and translating school based operational needs into technical requirements.
- Strong communication skills to present findings to leadership and coach school staff through change.
- Experience planning and executing K-12 technology projects, such as system implementations, process audits, or district wide rollouts.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies and the ability to adapt project plans to the school-year cycle.
- Ability to develop detailed business requirements, user stories, functional specifications, and training materials specifically for education audiences.
- Skilled in gathering requirements from non technical staff and converting them into actionable technical guidance.
- Experience leading adoption of new systems or processes among diverse employee groups.
- Ability to develop communication plans, staff training, job aids, and implementation supports that account for school calendars and staffing constraints.
- Working knowledge of SQL, Excel Power Query, or API integrations used to support SIS and Students/Parents portal and application systems.
- Understanding of data privacy requirements including FERPA and state-level student privacy laws.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Information Systems, Public Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CBAP, PMI PBA, Lean Six Sigma, Scrum Master, or education specific data credentials.
- Independently collect functional business requirement documents and diagrams with technologies, including JAD, UML modeling, group interviews, facilitated sessions, prototyping, Mind mapping, and brainstorming. Assists in technical analysis and design to propose the solution based on the technical environment and technical stack.

- Create and manage work orders for enhancements, bug fixes, and incident change request tracking in the Azure Dev Ops.
