Overview
The Activity Coordinator position is the heart of our summer program at Brook Hill, blending the roles of a summer camp counselor, tour guide, and resident assistant while engaging with participants from around the world and helping them have a memorable summer.
This is a seasonal, full-time, salaried, in-person position. Activity Coordinators lead students on guided tours of excursion sites, interact with and engage students, participate in on-campus activities, and assist with program logistics such as group check-ins and check-outs. Coordinators work under the direct supervision of the Activity Manager. Full room and board is provided for the duration of employment. Residing on campus is a requirement of the position.

At The Brook Hill Alliance (formerly PLUS), we operate international education programs including Brook Hill Study Tours, our English language study and travel program for international high school students across North America. Our students take English classes and explore the surrounding regions while staying at North American colleges and universities. TimeCommitment
- Employment period ranges from 2 to 8 weeks during the summer (mid-June to early August), with most Coordinators working 4-6 weeks and typically contracted for the last two weeks of July.
- Irregular and significant working hours; night and weekend work is expected. Vacation time requests during the employment period are generally not possible.
- One full day off per calendar week (Mon-Sun for each full week) and other blocks of free time based on campus needs.
- Approximately 8 hours of paid online training to be completed before arriving at the program site.
- Regional travel is required; all work-related travel during the employment period is provided and covered by Brook Hill.
- Residential employees are responsible for travel costs to and from the campus location. Parking costs may not be included if you bring a car.
- Wages are between $1,320 and $1,360 per week.
- Housing for the duration of the employment period.
- Meals (full board) for the duration of the employment period.
The following is expected of Activity Coordinators:
- Standard Expectations
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce all Brook Hill/campus policies and procedures. Tasks include: interacting with groups of international high school students and chaperones in a professional, enthusiastic, and customer-service oriented manner; ensuring participant safety and practicing emergency preparedness; communicating Brook Hill policies clearly and respectfully; handling sensitive information discreetly; and assisting with duties as assigned.
- Off-Campus Activities (Excursions)
- Lead students and chaperones on engaging tours of local sights and landmarks; provide relevant information about landmarks; conduct walking and bus tours with confidence; ensure student safety; coordinate logistics with bus drivers and during hotel check-ins; facilitate games and entertainment during delays; be on night duty and on-call during overnight excursions at hotels.
- On-Campus Activities
- Assist in organizing and delivering activities for students and chaperones, including orientation, welcome activities, talent shows, and graduation ceremonies; manage setup, execution, and teardown of recreational activities (discos, game nights, movie nights, etc.); supervise sporting activities (field games, soccer, basketball, etc.).
- Student Engagement & Wellbeing
- Interact with students and chaperones to address concerns professionally; help students improve conversational English; encourage participation in activities; eat and converse with participants during meals; supervise students in residence halls, dining hall, activity spaces, and off-campus locations; participate in rotating night duty.
- Office, Campus, & Miscellaneous
- Support logistical and organizational needs: attend daily staff meetings; assist with arrival/departure/changeover procedures and room checks; assist with administrative tasks; capture photo/video content for social media; manage company card usage and expenses if applicable; guide students to campus locations and resources; assist management as needed.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High school diploma required.
- Previous customer service experience strongly preferred.
- Previous summer camp experience or work with minors strongly preferred.
- Previous international experience preferred.
- Athletic, musical, theatrical, and/or artistic talent and enthusiasm preferred.
