Primary Function: Support the special education program by managing special education compliance requirements. This includes updating databases, filing and uploading documents, and communicating with parents and staff.

Essential Functions:
  • Schedule IEP meetings
  • Provide IEP notifications of IEP meetings and/or special education assessment plans to all required parties in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and review the scheduled IEP meetings with the special education team on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure all IEP communication is updated on the Wellignet system
  • Alphabetize and file documents and reports.
  • Communicate with outside contractors as needed.
  • Assist parents with the proper completion of forms and maintain student records.
  • Communicate with the appropriate school staff regarding IEP meeting attendance requirements and request substitute coverage if necessary
  • Track expenses for the program.
  • Compile receipts for grant expenditures.
  • Maintain an inventory of special education resources, including assistive technology, assessments, reference books, etc.
  • Assist in compiling necessary documents for the school's special education DVR (District Validation Review), charter review/renewal/visit, WASC accreditation
  • Compile necessary documents for any due process cases.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally & in writing, and in a timely and respectful manner with students, parents, & other professionals routinely.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • IEP meeting interpretation as needed
  • Attend any/all trainings and meetings to stay current on expectations, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate professionally in scheduled meetings and trainings
  • Model professional behaviors and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the broader community.
  • Maintain reliable, consistent attendance and punctuality.
Other Functions:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in other school programs when necessary.
Knowledge of:

Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Physical Requirements:

Continual speaking; frequent sitting, reaching, walking, bending, grasping, and pinching; occasional lifting and carrying, squatting, twisting, and kneeling.

Environment:

Office environment, subject to constant interruptions and noise;
Workstation open to the public;
Frequent use of computer screen;
Uneven surfaces, noise, quick work pace;
Occasionally involves working outdoors and exposure to inclement weather;
Infrequently involves exposure to traffic congestion;
May rarely involve exposure to biohazardous waste.

Minimum Qualifications:

(*) High School Diploma

(*) Two years of related experience and/or training

(*) TB Test clearance & DOJ fingerprint clearance

(*) Highly organized, ability to work with multiple databases

(*) A demonstrated commitment to strong customer service, high professional ethical standards, and a diverse workplace

(*) Bilingual in Spanish or Korean (preferred)
