Shift Differential Premium: $1.75 per hour for hours worked between 6pm-6am
Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 8:30AM to 5:30PM
Status: 100%, Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Union
Probation: 90 Days

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
The Senior Services department supports and enriches the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people 50 years and older, with an overarching goal of successful aging in place. In this effort, the department provides a broad array of social, educational and support services to LGBT seniors, all of which are free or low-cost. We have an expanding population of LGBT homeless population and are growing as a department to include on site affordable housing for LGBT seniors.
JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Senior Services, the Department Assistant will provide general operational and administrative support for the Seniors Services Department at the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Senior Center and Triangle Square.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provide general operational and administrative support for the department, including appropriate functions related to the efficient, professional operation of the office; work directly with the Senior Services staff, providing help as needed.
• Provide welcoming front desk reception to all clients & guests; assist with check-in, new client registrations, DOA Intakes, assist with all appointments including case-management appointments; provide general accurate information to all inquiries; answer phones and direct calls as needed; forward Senior Services emails to appropriate staff.
• Responding to all RSVP voicemails and entering into Civi; ensuring Civi has all updated events and correct event #'s.
• Assist with daily lunches including menu posting, check-in's for lunches, assisting with set-up and other duties as needed.
• Monitor and assist clients with sign in for daily showers, laundry services and cooling services.
• Assist with checking out/in assisted hearing devices; maintain that devices are charged.
• Provide data entry and database management including data entry and scanning; enter participant attendance to Civi and CTS.
• Organize and maintain the Digi-board at reception area; update Digi-board weekly and/or daily as needed.
• Assist department management team with administrative support.
• Validate parking.
• Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND
EXPERIENCE:
• Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.
• A passion for the Center's work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
• Minimum of 1 year of general office experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational, interpersonal, research, and time management skills. Superior attention to detail.
• Superior computer skills including word processing and database operations.
• Self-motivated, energetic, flexible and able to work in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to be compassionate and patient with complex populations including older adults and homeless individuals.
• Ability to work under direct and general supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work discreetly and professionally with confidential materials.
• Familiarity with aging and issues impacting LGBT seniors, a plus.
• Access to reliable transportation and the ability to be insured.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
