Hybrid Bilingual Japanese Regional Accounting Manager​/Senior Accountant; Los Angeles, CA

Our client, a growing Japanese multinational, is seeking an experienced bilingual Japanese accounting professional to join its North American regional finance team in Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid).

This role is primarily targeted at a Regional Accounting Manager who can oversee financial governance, consolidation, and communication with Japanese HQ. Exceptional Senior Accountants with strong multinational experience and leadership potential will also be considered.

You will play a critical role as a regional finance leader, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and consistent accounting practices across U.S. subsidiaries.

• Regional Governance & Reporting
• Oversee monthly and quarterly consolidation packages and review subsidiary financial statements
• Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting to Japanese HQ
• Act as the primary accounting counterpart for HQ financial inquiries
• Lead regional FP&A activities, including monthly variance analysis, budget vs. actual tracking, and cash flow management
• Provide insights and recommendations to support business and financial strategy

• Compliance, Audit & Controls
• Manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, including J-SOX / US-SOX compliance
• Identify and mitigate accounting, tax, and reporting risks across subsidiaries

• Leadership & Process Improvement
• Provide guidance and oversight to subsidiary accounting teams
• Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
• Support and mentor accounting staff as needed

Must-Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• 7–10+ years of accounting experience for Manager-level candidates
• 3–5+ years of strong corporate accounting experience for Senior Accountant candidates
• Fluent in both English and Japanese (business level or higher required)
• Strong knowledge of US-GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with month-end close, financial statement review, and consolidation
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Microsoft GP, or similar)
• Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills

• CPA certification (U.S. or Japan)
• Experience in multinational or multi-entity organizations
• Knowledge of IFRS and/or J-SOX / US-SOX
• Experience working directly with Japanese HQ
• Prior experience guiding or reviewing the work of other accountants

• Regional Accounting Manager: $70,000 – $100,000 DOE
• Senior Accountant: $50,000 – $75,000 DOE
