The Accounting team is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing company. You’ll have the unique opportunity to build processes, collaborate cross functionally, and play a key role in the team’s ability to scale. The Senior Accountant will own various functional accounting areas and gain exposure to ad hoc initiatives and projects. In keeping with Company values, the successful candidate in this role is someone who operates with an open and detail-oriented mindset.

The role is responsible for all day-to-day accounting activities of the company, including preparation and recording of journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. This position reports to the Controller and will work cross-functionally as a valuable member contributing to the Company’s continued growth and success.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly close deliverables
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
  • Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries
  • Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other ad hoc financial reporting
  • Records payroll entries by department to provide cost center visibility
  • Reconciles bank accounts and credit card transactions
  • Oversees Accounts Payable, invoice processing, payment processing and reporting and compliance to ensure company meets timely payment to our vendors
  • Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures & maintaining internal control procedures in areas of responsibility
  • Accounts Receivable full cycle - in a retail environment
  • Assist with external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors
  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies for areas of responsibility
  • Participate in special projects, analysis, and reporting as required by management

Accounts Receivable Responsibilities:

  • Managing the entire invoicing process, from creation to distribution.
  • Overseeing retail invoicing practice, ensuring accuracy of product prices, discount and fees.
  • Efficiently monitoring and collecting customer payments.
  • Generate accounts receivable aging reports to track overdue payments

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; ideally, a public accounting/private industry mix
  • 2+ years experience in Beauty/CPG and retail environment
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
  • CPA (or on track to be certified) strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP required
  • Possess excellent attention to detail and analytical, organizational, problem solving, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Able to work under time pressure, prioritize a high workload, and meet strict deadlines
  • Team player with a positive attitude and open mindset, not afraid to roll up your sleeves and work in a dynamic environment
  • Experience working with Net Suite a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel, MS Office, and Google Workspace (e.g. Google Sheets and Slides) required
