Matura Farrington is partnering with a well-established law firm in Downtown Los Angeles in its search for a Senior Accountant to support core accounting, reporting, and month-end close functions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong analytical skills who thrives in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment and values discretion.
Role OverviewThe Senior Accountant is responsible for general accounting activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting related to month-end and year-end close processes. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this position supports both recurring close activities and special analytical projects that require critical thinking and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and analyze bank and trust account reconciliations
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and proper support
- Prepare detailed month-end journal entries with clear documentation for review and approval
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses following monthly close
- Maintain fixed asset and leasing schedules
- Produce recurring and ad-hoc financial reports from accounting systems and reporting tools
- Conduct detailed data analysis to validate financial accuracy and integrity
- Prepare executive-level summary schedules as needed
- Perform standard queries against financial databases and manipulate data in Excel for reporting and distribution
- Assist with monthly and year-end schedules, reconciliations, and close-related deliverables
- Support external accountants by furnishing data for annual reviews, audits, and tax preparation
- Assist with preparation of required filings and property-related returns
- Collaborate with accounting colleagues on cross-functional projects
- Work closely with finance leadership to refine internal processes and workflows
- Promptly and accurately respond to financial inquiries and data requests
- Maintain procedural documentation, including charts of accounts
- Manage recurring deliverables in accordance with established deadlines and specifications
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial systems, data, and reports
- Work overtime as required, particularly during month-end and year-end close periods
- Complete special projects and ad hoc management reports as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (required)
- Experience with enterprise accounting systems; Elite 3E experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate clearly with stakeholders
- Prior professional services or law firm experience preferred but not required
- Ability to commute to a central business district location required
