We are looking for qualified and passionate individuals to help us in the mission of addressing issues like housing, mental health, and substance use. AND VACANCY

Department of Health Services Community Programs (Housing for Health for Homelessness) and Office of Diversion and Reentry are seeking qualified candidates to fill Account Clerk I vacancies related to the homelessness crisis.

Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment. During your initial work period ends, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100% and those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment as Account Clerk I.

DEFINITION

Performs accounting clerical work in the maintenance of accounting records within a comprehensive established framework of procedures, under general supervision.

  • A departmental accounting system having approximately 200 appropriation and revenues accounts and cost centers.
  • A segment of a general accounting system having approximately 2,000 appropriation, fund, proprietary, and revenue accounts and cost centers.
  • An accounts payable, accounts receivable, or trust accounting system having approximately 5,000 active accounts.
  • A general accounting system or segment thereof having approximately 100,000 appropriation, fund, proprietary and revenue accounts and cost centers.
  • An accounts payable, accounts receivable, or trust accounting system having approximately 100,000 accounts.
  • Serves as a clerical assistant to a higher level in-charge accounting position with day-to-day responsibility for operation of the accounting system.

Performs bookkeeping and associated financial-clerical work, spending a major portion of time performing a variety of tasks involved in maintaining the accounting records of a small general accounting system, or an accounts receivable, accounts payable or trust accounting system.

Performs work within a comprehensive established framework of procedures, including: sorting, coding, verifying, and filing financial documents; posting by hand, machine, or through computer input; balancing to controlling accounts; and locating and tracing posting and coding errors; preparing standard reports; reconciling bank accounts; and other related tasks.
